****A Hackathon is an event that brings members of the community including students, parents, friends, carers, and teachers together along with industry professional and partners to identify problems that need solving and build solutions over a weekend.
Everybody is welcome and can apply. There are absolutely no prerequisites in terms of skills or knowledge. #IGGSHACK is open to students from Grade 7 or over, please send us an email if you have specific questions regarding this and we and discuss. The Hackathon Team will help step you through the process through a series of facilitated workshops and sessions, interspersed with team working time.
No! Everybody comes along to the event as an individual, and we help you to meet other people and form teams during the first evening based on the problems and solutions you are interested in working on.
Head on over to our Eventbrite page to get your tickets and find out more information about the event. Have another question that didn’t get answered here? You can email Peta Ellis, lead facilitator and IGGS Entrepreneur In Residence at [email protected]
Learning new skills, meeting new people, teamwork, collaboration, it will look great on your future CV or linkedin profile. You will have an opportunity to network and hearing phenomenal speakers, and gain a greater understanding about your local community, working as a team, meeting mentors, getting access to informative workshops and having fun!
At the end of the weekend, each team will pitch their solution and what they’ve been working on to a panel of Judges, who are leaders of the local community. The Judges will go and deliberate to decide on the winner and runners up.
The judges will be announced closer to the date of the hackathon, so stay tuned!
A team should be between 4-6 people. Remember that you don’t need to have a team to enter, they are only formed after the event has started!
Tickets are $20 to $25 for the entire weekend! And no that’s not a typo. Thanks to our awesome sponsors, Ipswich Girls Grammar School and Ipswich City Council we are able to offer access to this event at a price point to be accessible to everyone.
